Obituary for Ralph Dennis Darnell

Ralph "R.D." Darnell age 91 of Fredericktown, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at the Stockhoff Memorial Nursing Center in Fredericktown. He was born on June 18, 1926 in Flat River, Missouri, a son of William Pinkney and Carrie Ethel (Corman) Darnell. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers - Willard Sr., Medford, Lee and William; sisters - Opal, Heidi, Betty and Dorothy and one granddaughter.

On May 8, 1999 in Fredericktown he was united in marriage to Glenda (Finch) Matthews who survives in Fredericktown.

Other survivors include his children and stepchildren - Terry Darnell of Fulton, Missouri, Sharon Delpaz of Michigan, Johnny (Terri) Matthews of Ironton, Missouri and Donna (Bill) Killian of Fredericktown; brother - Gene (Ilene) Darnell of California and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ralph was a United States Navy veteran serving as a machinist mate on a destroyer, the USS Holmes County during WWII. He enjoyed woodcarving and was very proud of the beagles he raised and showed; he loved hearing his wife play the piano and often stated that he could listen to her all day; he held a commercial pilots license and was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Fredericktown.

Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7 :00 p.m., on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Wilson Funeral Home in Fredericktown.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Wilson Funeral Home with Bro. Clyde Bess officiating.

Interment will be at the Libertyville Christian Cemetery near Farmington, Missouri with military services provided by the National Guards military honors team and the United States Navy Honors Team
